Who We Are

What we offer is a fresh variety of vegetarian dining using our unique brand of meat substitutes. Our approach to vegetarian food came about as a result of our owners’ desire to find more filling and tastier vegetarian cuisine. Finding that most restaurants had bland vegetarian dishes with a limited selection, the owners decided to use inspiration from Chinese-style dishes (like sweet and sour pork and kung po chicken) and techniques to create dishes by combining traditional Chinese flavors with unique soy-based “meats” into fresh, delicious and, most of all, filling meals.

Loma House is a sister restaurant to Zen Garden; a family of seven successful restaurants in Ontario and New Brunswick. We are pleased to offer new flavours in vegetarian cuisine in Edmonton, just as they have done in Ontario.

Because Edmonton had only a handful of 100% vegetarian restaurants, we decided to open Loma House here to shift people towards vegetarian cuisine. What Loma House strives to offer is affordable, wholesome, and hearty vegetarian food to show everyone just how easy and exciting it is to maintain a vegetarian diet. Loma House has 7 very successful sister restaurants located in Mississauga, London, and we are pleased to be able to offer Edmontonians new flavors in vegetarian cuisine.

...But there's meat on your menu?

Loma House Vegetarian Express Restaurant’s meat substitutes – all of the “meat” used in our dishes – are products derived from soy beans. The texture is created from the use of soy protein, commonly referred to as textured vegetable protein or TVP.

Every “meat” product we have to offer on our menu is made without the use of chemicals and preservatives. We only use fresh, natural ingredients and spices to deliver delicious vegetarian food.

Mushrooms, no MSG

Because we do not use MSG in any of our dishes, our meals are prepared using natural mushroom seasoning. This special mushroom product allows us to cut back on the amount of salt usually used for seasoning as well, letting us deliver a healthier and more wholesome meal.

While all of our frozen products are vegetarian-friendly, not all of them are vegan-friendly. Please take care in reading the ingredients list or ask us about what’s in the product.
